Last week, we celebrated Patrick’s 36th birthday. He’s not one to ask for much, so all he requested was some Hard Knox Pizza, which was REALLLLLLY good, by the way, and an IPA. Ummmm, IPA? Is that a stock or something?
So with a few family members in tow, we commenced the celebration! As always, Bella was ready to go!
Red velvet cake = crack.
Bella is helping Daddy open his presents. She gave him a tie and a pocket square. Even though I think it was so close to Christmas that she was probably wondering where her presents were. :)
A gift card to his mecca…Buffalo Wild Wings. He didn’t exactly look THIS excited to open up the tie.
100 points to anyone who can tell me what this is….
Yes, a battery tester. My dad thinks no house is complete without a battery tester. My mom was so embarrassed.
We’re only 2 weeks into the new year and we’ve already had a big show down in our house. Bella’s new thing is the “stare down.” She’ll stare down anyone…at home, in public, at the grocery store…even the eye doctor was privy to the experience the other day.
Last night at dinner, Bella threw down the gauntlet: The Great Stare Down of 2012 was ON.
Wow…there really was no competition. I think we all know who the clear winner was that night. :)
Someone in our house turns the big 3-6 today!!! Happy Birthday my love!!
Over the holidays, I made some of my all-time favorite treats. They are so simple to make and relatively healthy too…such a great alternative to traditional rice krispie treats w/ the sugar, butter, marshmallows, etc. I got the recipe from “The Kind Diet” cookbook by Alicia Silverstone, which by the way, I definitely recommend.
All you need are these four ingredients.
Heat the brown rice syrup with the peanut butter.
Pour over your krispies.
Add chocolate chips…or carob chips, if you want to be uberly healthy.
Let them cool a bit, and then cut into squares.
These don’t last too long in our house, and I even love them without the chocolate chips, which makes them completely vegan. But you can also get vegan chocolate chips too, so don’t fret if you still want that bit of chocolate in them. They’re pretty much an all-around good snack for any time of day.
Get the official recipe here, and enjoy!
Happy New Year!! I can’t even describe how much I’m looking forward to 2012. Much is on the horizon for us, but I also find myself invigorated by the possibilities of the unknown as well.
Before we put Bella to sleep for the last time in 2011, we went over some of her goals for 2012, including…learn more vocabulary words, go to school, make new friends, and just have as much fun as possible. Never too young to set goals!
8:30 PM – Last family pic of 2011 before Bella’s bedtime
9:00 PM – Poppin’ bottles!! Ahem, bottles of sparkling apple cider, that is. We also had one of our favorite treats…brie with fig jam on a French baguette. It really is crack so we only pull it out on special occasions. By the way, I’ve found that Bella’s little spoons are the perfect size for serving appetizers!
9:10 PM – It looks like real champagne doesn’t it? As you can see, we dressed in our finest for this highly-anticipated celebration.
9:23 PM – My husband the entertainer…never fails to make me laugh.
Approximately ummmm….somewhere between 10:35 PM and 11:55 PM…I can only assume.
Hey, don’t judge, I’m pregnant!! I tried my best, but I did manage to wake back up by 11:55 PM to watch the ball drop. :)
I love the Christmas season so much, and I’m sad to see it end. So I’m stretching out my Christmas posts as long as possible, which I’d say by any reasonable standard, ends today.
Bella had such a great time. She decorated her first Christmas cookies!
Kind of messy, but yummy, nonetheless.
Just enjoying a nice evening, playing quietly by the tree. Incidentally, my little love doesn’t care what holiday it is…her Halloween fairy princess costume always makes its way to the celebration.
Twas the night before Christmas…
Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas in our house without a little Yo Gabba Gabba under the tree.
Opening Christmas presents with Daddy…
Mattie was like, “What on earth??”
And Bella’s favorite present of all, “a PI-NA-NO!”
She was really feeling the music!
Already looking forward to Christmas 2012. Especially the fact that we’ll need to make room for one more little stocking above the fireplace. :)
